Standardized assessments and clinical observation of sensory processing, perceptual skills, fine, gross, oral motor skills, self-help and communication may be included. All evaluations are individualized to meet the needs of the client. A formal report may be written with this service.

Individual Treatment

In our efforts to better meet the needs of children and their families, Children’s Therapy Associates, Inc. (CTA) offers various treatment options such as individual or group sessions, treatment intensives, home visits, consultation, the Interactive Metronome® or home programming. Individual treatment sessions are set up following a comprehensive evaluation. The frequency of treatment sessions varies to fit your child and family needs. Some children benefit from several sessions a week, weekly sessions, or monthly follow-ups.  We offer occupational and physical therapy services on an individual basis.  In addition, we consult with and refer to various professionals in our community.

Therapeutic intervention can help with developmental delay, visual perceptual difficulties, learning disabilities, ADHD, physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, sensory disorders, social/emotional difficulties, problem behaviors, communication, and Pervasive Developmental Delays. Therapy in individual sessions may use treatment approaches such as sensory integration, neuro-developmental techniques, craniosacral therapy, Therapeutic Listening™/Bone Conduction, Assistive Technology, and/or Interactive Metronome®. Based on your child’s needs, CTA offers co-treatments with Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, or Psychologists.

Referrals for evaluations and treatment can come from a variety of sources; a physician’s referral is not necessarily required. Families will gain a better understanding of their child’s needs and how they can be addressed. Sensory diets, home programming, developmentally appropriate activities, auditory techniques, and suggestions for continued intervention may be recommended.

Treatment Intensives

In our efforts to better meet the needs of children and their families, Children’s Therapy Associates, Inc. (CTA) offers various treatment options, such as individual therapy, group sessions, or home programming. In addition to these treatment options, CTA is pleased to offer Treatment Intensives. This is intensive therapy over a short period of time. This provides the family with the resources they need to maximize the potential of their child. This intensive approach provides the therapists the time and ability to gain a better understanding of the individual child and incorporate cutting edge therapy techniques. Having therapy in a concentrated manner allows therapists to use strategies to get children in that “just right place” so they may be more available to other treatment intervention and functional outcomes.

Treatment Intensives can compliment the school-based services, home programming, and community therapy the child receives. Treatment Intensives can address social, communication and emotional skills, daily living issues including behavior concerns, physical dysfunction, sensory processing difficulties and/or developmental delays. A vital part of treatment is part participation and education, as well as networking with community agencies, to benefit the child.

Treatment Intensives may vary from one to ten days, with therapy once or twice daily for as long as three hours a session. This provides ample opportunity for the child to be seen in all facets. Programs are individualized to meet child and family needs. Follow up sessions may also be provided. As well as occupational therapy intervention, Treatment Intensives may also include physical therapy as needed. The therapist uses ongoing assessment and intervention to allow potential for change. Treatment approaches used may include:  sensory integration, neurodevelopmental techniques, craniosacral therapy, Therapeutic Listening™, and Assistive Technology.

Referrals for Treatment Intensives can come from a variety of sources; a physician’s referral is not necessarily required. Families will gain a better understanding of their child’s needs and how they can be addressed. Sensory diets, auditory techniques, and suggestions for continued intervention may be recommended.

Group Sessions

Group intervention allows for children to experience social success with peers while enhancing sensorimotor foundations to support skill development. A variety of groups targeting specific skills are available. A few examples of CTA’s groups are: Ready to Write, Motion and Messy Play, Real World Language, Visions to Learn, Body Work Wrestling, etc. Additional small group programming can also be designed to best serve client needs. Therapists run all CTA groups. Please inquire about our family unit groups and our Face Autism groups sponsored by Face Autism.
